Busy Boy

Colin is one busy baby. He rarely sits still for more than a minute, he prefers standing over sitting, he grabs at EVERYTHING, he swats at anything in reach, he kicks his feet in the bath and gets me soaking wet, and now he rolls from his back to his stomach.

The rolling from tummy to back is a relatively new development. In fact, he more often will do it when no one is watching.

Case and point: I put him on a blanket the other morning while I went to the kitchen to get some cereal for breakfast. I walked back into the living room to find this...

That yellow bag was just too tempting, I suppose.

Colin also loves kicking his feet and eating his feet. I found him like this post-nap one morning last week. Not even footie pajamas can contain him!

I just can't get over how cute he is :)

The House

By this time next week we will be homeowners! The house I've been eluding to for weeks will be officially ours as of next Thursday.

It has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, and a sunroom on the back of the house that I've already claimed as my craft room!

One Year Older

I've never cared much for Valentine's Day. Now I love that day, but only because it's Matt's birthday!

For Matt's 26th birthday I let him open one present in the morning--cocoa roasted almonds from Sam's Club. If you know Matt, you know he loves to eat. Half of his birthday present requests involved food from Sam's Club.

He spent the day at work, and then he brought home pizza for dinner! Valentine's Day is not the best night to go out for a birthday dinner...

The one thing Matt really needed for his birthday were work boots, which we bought that night, but the other random present I gave him was a package of these:

Kind of dorky, but he loves his iPhone, and we can use them in our new house.

For a birthday cake, he had requested a red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting, so that afternoon I whipped one up. I've made this recipe twice now. Good stuff.

There were maybe 10 candles on the cake, and it still took him 3 breaths to blow them all out. I guess being 26 means he's old or something :) Happy birthday, Matty!!

Travel Buddies

Colin and I are officially travel buddies. In the last 2 months, he and I have flown from Salt Lake to Tulsa (with a layover in Denver), Tulsa to Salt Lake and back, Salt Lake to Portland and back, and now Tulsa to Dallas and back.

We also made a road trip as a family up to Montana in November. My point? At 4-months-old, Colin is an expert traveler.

Our trip to Dallas was this last weekend. It was a quick trip to meet Jill there, who was flying in from Phoenix. Our weekend consisted of pedicures, lunch at Raising Cane's Chicken Fingers, and shopping at the outlet mall, which doesn't sound like much, but we had fun!

It was Jill's first time meeting Colin, and although this picture was taken in Nine West, it's the only picture I managed to take all weekend, so at least I took one of the two of them.

This was also the trip for misplacing things. By the time I got into the Tulsa airport, I had already misplaced Colin's pacifier. Thankfully, I usually have a spare in the diaper bag, so crisis averted. Then while eating lunch at Raising Cane's, Colin pushed his jacket from the table onto the ground where it stayed until we went back for it later. And the last item was officially gone and not to be recovered. Colin apparently threw his burp cloth out of his car seat while we were walking around the outlet mall. Good thing we have a bajillion on those around.

Thanks for the fun weekend, Jill. And thanks Rob, or watching the kids so she could meet me there :)

Now that I'm a self-proclaimed pro at flying with a baby, I can't wait for our next trip! Where should I go in March...

More To Report

There's so much going on in this little boy's life right now, his current status cannot be contained in one post.

We made it to the pediatrician yesterday for his 4-month check-up. I really loved his doctor in Utah, and was not looking forward to finding a new one. I searched for pediatricians on google, and after reading a few reviews, I selected one from a clinic that's near our soon-to-be house.

His new doctor is amazing! She spent a lot of time with us, checked Colin over thoroughly, and answered every question we had before we could even ask them.

The sad news...after checking him over thoroughly, we now know that he may be getting an ear infection, he has some kind of yeast diaper rash, and he has extremely sensitive skin.

We noticed several days ago that he had little bumps all over his arms, legs, and stomach, as well as a few patches of eczema. She gave us a list of lotions, laundry detergent, and other products to try. After a day of use, I haven't noticed a difference, but hopefully the bumps clear up soon.

We also decided, after getting the go-ahead, to start him on rice cereal. Here's the video of that :)
That's about the same face he makes when we make him drink formula. What a kid!

And in case you've made it this far in the post, and you're wondering, Colin's stats are as follows:

weight: 13 lb 14 oz (24%)
height: 25.5" (67%)
head circum.: 17" (71%)

Now that we're starting him on solids, hopefully he'll beef up.

He's apparently a little bitty guy.

Just right for our teeny tiner family!

The Little Guy (at 4 months)

At 4 months, Colin can sometimes been seen
sporting a baby mohawk

His current hobbies include:
working on sitting by himself...

sucking on fingers, toes, and his wrists...

grabbing at anything and everything,
which makes dinnertime a little tricky...

helping Dad with his many projects
(all babies were heavily supervised when handling the screw driver)

and rolling over
(But only when he wants to. This kid is stubborn!)

When asked to describe his ideal date, Colin admits he loves
good quality tummy time with the ladies.

And at 4 months, Colin has decided when he grows up,
he would like to model snowsuits.
This is his Blue Steel. Just like Zoolander, right?

We love our little boy! It seems like he learns something new every day, and I'm so grateful I get to stay home to witness it all. He goes in for his check-up tomorrow, so I'll update you on his stats then!
